Patchogue, NY – March 13, 2024 – Get ready for an electrifying afternoon as the vibrant spirit of blues and rock collide in a celebration of local female voices at the upcoming “Ladies Rock the Blues” event.
Mark your calendars for April 28th, 2024, at 4:00 PM, as this free concert takes center stage at 89 North Music Venue, located at 89 N Ocean Ave, Patchogue, NY 11772.
A group of talented local female voices/musicians explore the intersection of blues and rock through the work of Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Sharon Jones and Susan Tedeschi.
Leading the charge is Amy Stahlin, whose musical journey has embraced the realms of melody and rhythm from an early age. Joined by fellow vocal powerhouses Cassandra House, Ann “Annie Mac” MacInerny, and Crystal Zagarello, this ensemble promises to deliver an unforgettable performance that celebrates the sisterhood in song.
Since the birth of rock music, the blues have been its guiding force. While predominantly male-dominated, the blues-rock genre has been significantly shaped by the contributions of women artists. In a homage to the leading ladies of blues-based rock such as Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Sharon Jones, and Susan Tedeschi, a group of exceptionally talented local musicians is set to ignite the stage with their soulful renditions.
Amy Stahlin, known for her work with Stella Blues Band and other notable projects, brings her passion for improvisational rock to the forefront. Cassandra House, described as soulful and raw, has shared stages with renowned talents, captivating audiences with her heartfelt performances. Annie Mac’s eclectic musical palette, spanning from classical to funk, promises to enthrall listeners with its dynamism. Crystal Zagarello, a classically trained flutist and vocalist, brings her wealth of experience from prestigious stages to enrich the sonic tapestry of the event.
Don’t miss out on this extraordinary celebration of women in music. Join us on April 28th at 4:00 PM at 89 North Music Venue for an afternoon of soul-stirring melodies and electrifying performances.
While admission is free, suggested donations of $10 are encouraged to support the thriving local arts scene.
This event is part of Art Crossings, a Patchogue Arts Council program series for 2024.
About 2024 Art Crossings
Art Crossings provides a variety of arts experiences in efforts to cross audiences with culturally significant artists and genres they would not otherwise intersect with; create opportunity for underrepresented artists to cross with supporters they would not otherwise find; and cross artists with other artists, creating something that would’ve never existed otherwise. This synthesis of arts, culture, and community inspires creative vibrancy and yields new understandings of one’s surroundings.
All events are presented for free and welcome all to participate and experience the arts with us!
This series of programming is made possible with generous support from the NY State Council on the Arts.
Our programs are possible because of the generous support of our main sponsors.
