80 works celebrating 80 years by Carole Z. Amodeo

April 27 – May 7, 2023
Reception & Birthday Celebration April 29 from 5:00 -8:00 PM
Gallery hours: 12:00 – 4:00 PM

A retrospective of her life reflections – Amodeo, a self-taught photographer who has been taking and displaying pictures for over twenty years. Carole uses her iPhone or a point and shoot camera (on automatic for all of her work and feels the simplicity of her process is a defining element of her pieces. All of her work is unenhanced and unedited.

Amodeo is well known for her ‘Reflections’ pieces that have been shown throughout Long Island including most notably at the Suffolk County Historical Societies’ Gish Gallery. Since beginning her Reflections’ series in 1997 Carole has made her work more intricate with double reflections and deeper storytelling.

Her blown glass series was created during her exhibit at the Suffolk County Historical Society Museum in Riverhead. Amodeo’s exhibit coincided with a blown glass exhibit that fascinated Carole with its lines, swirls and edges. She took photos of the pieces focusing on the shapes and lines of the blown glass.

In addition to showcasing her photography, Amodeo also speaks to local photography groups and organizations about her work. She is a member of the Patchogue Arts Council. Originally from Brooklyn, Carole now resides in Patchogue where her home doubles as her studio as well as a gallery. She is active on social media and can be found at @pixcja2 on Instagram and TikTok.

This very special I C U ~80 show is a reflection of my life and my art. Having been lucky enough to live to be 80 and continue evolving as an artist is truly amazing. I will be showing 80 various pieces from older work to my most current ,various sizes and mediums. I truly want all the people that walk in to this show to feel my love of life and photography. Hoping for it to be a REALLY BIG SHOW ! -Carole Z. Amodeo
