“I began drawing in the mid-1990s, and after many years of refining my own style, I found myself working almost exclusively with gel pens. I am drawn to their fluidity and vibrant colors, and I enjoy watching a new work come alive as I draw. Through my art, I strive to create a sense of energy and visual flow.

My inspiration comes from everyday objects, my imagination, and music. My work ranges from abstraction to landscapes and portraits, but across each subject I aim to maintain a recognizable visual language. I continue to develop a style that is distinctly my own—one where, upon seeing the work, the viewer can recognize that I created it.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Charles Balletto is a Long Island–based artist who was born and raised on Long Island. He began drawing in the mid-1990s and, through years of developing his practice, discovered gel pens as his preferred medium, drawn to their vibrant colors and fluid application.

After many years of living in New York City, Balletto recently returned to Long Island to raise his family with his wife and two daughters. In addition to his visual art practice, he enjoys playing electronic ambient music, which complements his ongoing interest in creativity, rhythm, and expression. He continues to draw regularly, developing a distinctive visual language through color, movement, and line.
