MoCA L.I.ghts 2022 | Call for Artists ART ON THE MARQUEE®

2022 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS | ART ON THE MARQUEE®

In collaboration with the Patchogue Theatre of Performing Arts, a rotating series of artist-created videos, gifs, animation, and/or digitally created still works by artists will be presented on the marquee of the Patchogue Theatre. Artists are invited to submit site-specific works to be displayed on the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts digital marquee. Works need to meet specific specs to be considered, please review the guidelines carefully.

If you want to learn more about how to create an animation GIF that you can then submit for possible inclusion in this opportunity you can watch a number of different virtual labs created by 2020 & 2021 MoCA L.I.ghts Artists! NEW virtual labs will be released in July – September 2022.

This exhibition will run on the marquee from October – December 2022, and will be included in all MoCA L.I.ghts® events taking place October 13 – 16, 2022. Exact run times TBA

ART ON THE MARQUEE® is part of the Patchogue Arts Council MoCA L.I.ghts 2022 program. 

As the days get shorter and darker the Village of Patchogue will begin to glow again as the Patchogue Arts Council presents MOCA L.I.ghts 2022. A series of compelling, site-specific artist-designed works that include projection, video, animation, and gifs. Works will be exhibited in multiple locations throughout the downtown from October – December 2022 transforming the Village into an immersive open-air museum. MoCA L.I.ghts® is a free program open to the community at large.

Submission Details & Guidelines

Submission Deadline: September 20, 2022

Notifications by October 1, 2022

Artists can submit a max of 3 works  Submissions must include the following information for each work: Title, Date of completion, and Type of media

Submissions must also include: An artist statement and an artist bio

All files should be labeled with the artist’s name and title of work. Ex: Yourname_titleofwork.gif, Yourname_titleofwork.jpg, Yourname_titleofwork.docx, and Yourname_titleofwork.pdf

REQUIREMENTS & RESTRICTIONS

Works must be sized correctly to be placed on the marquee. Submissions that are not the correct specs will not be considered. Please follow the guidelines below. These guidelines are specific to the technology of the marquee.

For each submission, please submit:   1 GIF animation file, and  1 freeze-frame JPEG file from the animation

Format: GIF Animation  Size: 90 pixels high x 1080 pixels wide Maximum file size: 5 MB  Maximum length: 30 seconds  Max frame rates: up to 5 frame-per-second  No sound

Format: JPEG  Size: 90 pixels high x 1080 pixels wide Maximum file size: 1 MB *This file must be a freeze-frame image from the animation

En colaboración con Patchogue Theatre of Performing Arts, se presentará en la marquesina del Patchogue Theater una serie rotativa de vídeos, gifs, animaciones y/u obras fijas creadas digitalmente por artistas. Se invita a los artistas a presentar obras específicas para ser expuestas en la marquesina digital del con Patchogue Theatre of Performing Arts. Las obras deben cumplir unas especificaciones concretas para ser tenidas en cuenta.
