The Mind Unleashed: Textured Paintings by Jamie Mareno

Jamie Mareno is a graphic designer, photographer, and mixed media artist from Long Island, NY. She studied art in high school and went on to earn her Bachelors of Fine Arts, with a concentration in Graphic Design, from Briarcliffe College in 2012. She has participated as an artist in the New York Contemporary Art Symposiums in 2013 and 2015.

Jamie began as a studio artist working with pastels and acrylics before honing her skills as a designer and photographer and currently branching out into video. She considers herself to be a mixed media artist incorporating all mediums. She explores the power of text, amplifies the beauty of overlooked objects, plays with color and texture, hoping to break down the complications of life and memory to the forefront of the viewers’ attention. Jamie is captured by the color, composition, shape, and texture of an object and utilizes it with interest in the power these elements have on the emotional reaction of the viewer.
