Men Honoring Women

Reception: Saturday, March 12, from 5 – 7 PM

The Patchogue Arts Council is pleased to announce it is accepting submissions from artists for inclusion in its upcoming exhibition Men Honoring Women. The exhibition will run from March 12 to April 24 with an opening reception on Saturday, March 12, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

Celebration of Women’s History Month typically highlights the art of women. Men Honoring Women is an opportunity for men to acknowledge the importance of the feminine in contemporary society. Male artists are invited to submit works of art that address topics such as the Mother Goddess, the Sacred Feminine, the Earth Mother, the achievements of women and importance of women in history. Priority will be given to archetypical over individual imagery. 

Requirements & Restrictions

  • Male artists must be local to Long Island or the Metropolitan area
  • Submissions should respond to one of the following themes:
    • Honoring the Mother Goddess
    • Honoring the Sacred Feminine
    • Honoring the Mother Earth
    • Honoring the achievements of women or an important woman in history
  • There is no fee to submit work
  • All two-dimensional work must be wired/ready for hanging
  • Only digital submissions sent by January 30, 2016 will be considered 

Submissions Details

  • Email submissions due ON Saturday, January 30
  • Submissions received AFTER January 30 will not be considered
  • Accepted artists will be notified through email by February 13
  • Email your submissions to: info@patchoguearts.org
  • Subject line must include: Men Honoring Women_ArtistName
  • Only submission to this email address will be considered

Email Submission Guidelines

  • Artists are invited to submit up to three (3) works of any media and size
  • All files should be labels with your name and title of work. Ex: Yourname_titleofwork.jpg
  • Artists are invited to submit one jpg per two-dimensional work and up to 2 jpgs per three-dimensional work
  • The body of your email must include the image details: Title, medium, size, and date
  • All artists should include: CV/resume, bio, artist statement
  • Submissions that do not follow ALL of the above guidelines will not be considered

 

Important Information

  • January 30, Submission Deadline: Submissions must be sent to info@patchoguearts.org by this date
  • February 13, Artist Notifications: Accepted artists will be notified via EMAIL by a Patchogue Arts Council representative
  • March 1 – 5, Artwork Drop Off: Artwork accepted for the exhibition must be received by the Patchogue Arts Council
  • March 12 – April 24, Exhibition Dates: Men Honoring Women is open to the public with an opening reception on March 12, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM
  • April 25 – 28, Artwork Pick Up: Artists will be expected to retrieve their artwork between these dates

ABOUT THE PATCHOGUE ARTS COUNCIL – The Patchogue Arts Council, Inc., was formed to encourage, support, and promote the arts while aiding in the revitalization and sustainability of the community. The Patchogue Arts Council, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose focus is to serve the greater south shore of the Town of Brookhaven. The Patchogue Arts Council is located at 20 Terry St., Suite 116, Patchogue NY and is open Thursdays and Fridays, 2:00 – 7:30 PM, Saturdays and Sundays, 1:00 – 5:00 PM.
