Artists Lisa Petker Mintz and Mac Titmus get boisterous in the Patchogue-Medford Library exhibition Shhh! This is a Library! from May 1 through June 29. The exhibition is part of the Patchogue Arts Council’s Artful Antics summer festival. Chosen by curator John Cino for their synergist effect, each artist creates playfully exuberant works in their respective mediums. Both artists push their materials into densely layered imagery. Lisa Petker Mintz combines paint with collage materials in works of magical lyricism. Mac Titmus’ ‘interpretive photography’ has more to do with painting as he builds lush surfaces through digital manipulation of his images. Together their energetic works create a dynamism which is amplified by the quiet setting in Shhh! This is a Library!
The reception is free and open to the public.
