The Patchogue Arts Council is pleased to announce that it is accepting submissions from artists for inclusion in its upcoming exhibition 1967: The Summer of Love. The exhibition will run from May 13 to June 24 with an opening reception on Saturday, May 13, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

It has been 50 years since the young descended en masse on the city of San Francisco and began a cultural revolution. Artists may submit two pieces, which should reflect one or more of the following themes: Summer of Love, Psychedelia or Flower Power.

Requirements & Restrictions

  • Preference will be given to artists from Long Island and the Metropolitan area
  • Submissions should respond to one or more of the following themes:

    o Summer of Love o Psychedelia
    o Flower Power

  • There is no fee to submit work
  • All two-dimensional work must be wired/ready for hanging
  • Only digital submissions sent by Friday, April 14, 2017 will be considered

    Submissions Details

    • Email submissions due ON Friday, April 14
    • Submissions received AFTER Friday, April 14 will not be considered
    • Accepted artists will be notified through email by Friday, April 21
    • Email your submissions to: info@patchoguearts.org
    • Subject line must include: Summer of Love_ArtistName
    • Only submissions to this email address will be considered

Email Submission Guidelines

  • Artists are invited to submit up to two (2) works of any media and size
  • All files should be labels with your name and title of work. Ex: Yourname_titleofwork.jpg
  • Artists are invited to submit one jpg per two-dimensional work and up to 2 jpgs per three-dimensional work
  • The body of your email must include the image details: Title, medium, size, and date
  • All artists should include: CV/resume, bio, artist statement
  • Submissions that do not follow ALL of the above guidelines will not be considered

    Important Information

  • April 14, Submission Deadline: Submissions must be sent to info@patchoguearts.org by this date
  • April 21, Artist Notifications: Accepted artists will be notified via EMAIL by a Patchogue Arts Council representative
  • May 4 – 7, Artwork Drop Off: Artwork accepted for the exhibition must be received by the Patchogue Arts Council
  • May 13 – June 24, Exhibition Dates: 1967: Summer of Love is open to the public with an opening reception on May 13, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM
  • June 24 – 26, Artwork Pick Up: Artists will be expected to retrieve their artwork between these dates

    ABOUT THE PATCHOGUE ARTS COUNCIL – The Patchogue Arts Council, Inc., was formed to encourage, support, and promote the arts while aiding in the revitalization and sustainability of the community. The Patchogue Arts Council, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose focus is to serve the greater south shore of the Town of Brookhaven. The Patchogue Arts Council is located at 20 Terry St., Suite 116, Patchogue NY and is open Thursdays and Fridays, 2:00 – 7:30 PM, Saturdays and Sundays, 1:00 – 5:00 PM.
