Southside Entrance Mural – Patchogue-Medford Library

Presented by the Patchogue Arts Council (PAC) in collaboration with the Patchogue-Medford Library (PMLIB)

PAC and PMLIB invite proposals from individual artists or artist teams to design and paint a permanent exterior mural for the Southside (entranceway) façade of the Patchogue-Medford Library. We are seeking concepts that celebrate reading and community—and we encourage artists to think outside the book. Both representational and non-representational designs are welcome. Proposals that attract children and families will especially be considered.

Northside Walkway Mural – Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts

Presented by the Patchogue Arts Council (PAC) in collaboration with the Patchogue Theatre (PTPA)

Overview

PAC and PTPA invite proposals from individual artists or artist teams to design and paint an exterior mural for the Northside (walkway) façade of the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Mural Concept Theme: Deco Now — Welcome to Patchogue with PTPA

Building on the Theatre’s Art Deco historical architecture and an entertainment motif, this mural invites artists to fuse Deco geometry and glamour with the contemporary energy of Patchogue’s creative scene. Think radiant marquee light, stepped forms, fan rays, and elegant ornament reimagined as a modern field of motion—music, dance, film, comedy and performance arts flowing from the walkway to Main Street. The work should read as a civic embrace: the Theatre as a community staple and a gateway that warmly conceptually and figuratively includes the message “Welcome to Patchogue”

Designs should harmonize with the façade, utilize exposed brick while feeling fresh and inclusive, use a palette inspired by classic theatre tones, and balance bold distance legibility with layered details up close. PTPA is looking for a mural that will be a timeless statement that honors the past, reflects today’s community, and creates an iconic arrival moment for the village.

Pillars on the Arts District

Presented by the Patchogue Arts Council (PAC) in collaboration with Artspace Patchogue Lofts (APL)

Overview

The Patchogue Arts Council • Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island (PAC•MoCA L.I.) invites artists to transform our pillars into exciting and welcoming works of public art!

Standing at the entrance of MoCA L.I. and PLAZA Cinema within the Artspace Lofts complex, these columns rise in the heart of Patchogue’s officially designated Arts District. Much like PAC itself, they symbolize pillars of the arts community—supporting, uplifting, and welcoming all who enter. Now, we invite you to reimagine them as vibrant canvases that embody the creative spirit of Long Island.

We are seeking unique proposals that use bold color, abstract design, and contemporary vision to celebrate the role of the arts as a foundation for community life. One of the columns will feature the MoCA L.I. logo as part of the design. See image below.

The Challange

Artists are asked to submit proposals that consider all four poles. Each pole should be unique but cohesive, and one must include the MoCA L.I. logo as pictured.

Designs will be transformed into mural wraps for each pole. The finalist must be able to submit high resolution files.

October 1– Submissions due (11:59 PM ET)
