Learning to Look: Neolithic Art
The Neolithic or new stone age is marked by the development of agriculture and with it village life. During the Neolithic period which begins c. 10,000 BCE we find the first ‘megalithic structures like Stonehenge and the earliest temple architecture. Important themes of the time included fertility and the cycle of death and rebirth. The sites along this tour of earthworks and excavated temples range from New Grange in Ireland land to Catal Huyuk in Turkey.
