OPEN CALL FOR MURALIST
THE WALL
Patchogue Arts Council, in collaboration with the Patchogue- Medford Library, is pleased to announce it is accepting submissions from muralists to exhibit a temporary mural on the rear of the Patchogue-Medford Library. The mural will be inspired by this year’s festival season theme Coming of Age 2021. We come of age through various rites of passage, and our new selves enter a new time, and occupy a new space. 2021 festival programming scheduled will explore significant personal transitions, and the new ‘ages’ we find ourselves living in. The mural will be located in a highly visible location on the rear of the Patchogue- Medford Library and will serve as the backdrop to many community activities throughout 2021. Prior experience creating a mural is required.
A stipend of $1,500 will be awarded to assist in the planning, design, and execution of the mural. The mural should be inspired by the spirit of the theme Coming of Age 2021 . May 1 | Submission Deadline – DEADLINE EXTENDED MAY 12 Submissions must be sent to [email protected] by this date.
May 20 | Artist Notifications – Chosen muralist will be notified via EMAIL by a PAC representative.
June 4 – June 28 | Temporary Mural Installation – Artist will be expected to install the mural between these dates before the stipend is released.
Submission Details
-Email submissions are due by May 1, 2021. Accepted artists will be notified through email no later then May 15, 2021.

Email Submission Guidelines
-Please submit design plans, materials list, a detailed budget, preparatory drawings, notes, mock-ups, and other materials necessary to complete your mural design.
-All files should be labeled with your name and title of work. Ex: Yourname_titleofwork.jpg
-All artists must include two of the following: CV/ resume, bio, AND an artist statement.
-Artists must also include evidence of previous mural experience.
Submissions that do not follow ALL of the above guidelines will not be considered important Information
-Submissions should respond to the theme of Coming of Age 2021
-Prior experience involving the implementation of a mural is required. Collaborations are permitted, but only one stipend will be awarded for the completion of the mural.
-The mural must survive unpredictable weather for three + months.
-Submissions should include design plans, materials list, a detailed budget, preparatory drawings, notes, mock-ups, and other materials necessary to complete the mural.
