Some Assembly Required examines the art of collage and assemblage. In 1912 Pablo Picasso startled the art world by adding physical objects into the painting ‘Still Life with Chair Caning.’ Within a few years numerous artists replied stretching the concept of collage into other media such as photomontage and three-dimensional assemblages.
The artists of Some Assembly Required present a modern face on what is now a century old tradition. Drawn from the metropolitan region the artists in Some Assembly Required work in two- and three- dimensional media to confront contemporary issues or simply lighten our hearts. Artists included in Some Assembly Required are William Aquino, Jon Boyer, Ramona Candy, Elizabeth Castaldo, Eileen Winter Palmer, Elena Soterakis and Dwight Trujillo.
