Louise Weck
After leaving a career in Visual Merchandising for a major department store, I have focused on my artwork; working in a number of mediums, including oil, watercolor, and etching, and on surfaces as diverse as wood, paper and canvas.
For the past several years I have concentrated on painting in acrylics, choosing to depict my subjects in a flatter, more graphic way. The subjects I return to again and again are those that fulfill my desire to have the viewer “feel the sun”. I still get excited when I find this light playing on the vintage architecture or the unrivaled landscapes, beaches and towns of L.I. and the northeast, and I bring this feeling to my paintings of people and animals as well.
My studies have most recently included classes with private teachers at the National Art League and at the Art League of L. I. I have exhibited, sold, and won awards in outdoor shows on Long Island, Connecticut and Rhode Island: as well as at the Javits Center; the Fine Arts Museum of L. I., the Heckscher Museum and in galleries on Martha’s Vineyard, Guild Hall, E. Hampton, Stony Brook, Northport, Patchogue and Bellport.
