Patchogue’s Winter Arts Festival – Hundreds of people enjoy the “Texture, Fire, Color” ceramic platters of Bill Shillalies exhibited in the Patchogue Theater Art Gallery and then the Walking Arts Tour and met/viewed over 40 artist’s work. Poetry filled the afternoon.

Patchogue Art Council’s General Meeting at Briarcliffe College. Guest Speaker Mayor Pontieri and Village Trustee Gerry Crean updated the board, trustee and members on the Art Space Lofts Project, slated to break ground September of 2009, the Four Corner Renovation, new construction to start shortly and the preservation and move of the Carnegie Library across the street to Village Property and hopeful will become a home for the Patchogue Arts Council and other community organizations.

Artist Reception at the Patchogue Theatre Lobby Gallery was held for Robert Mielenhausen whose work will be exhibited March 21 – May 15. Patchogue Arts Council is proud to present the paintings of Robert Mielenhausen which will be on display in the Gallery at the Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts. Mielenhausen turns his gaze on an intimate slice of life in lower Manhattan depicting neighborhood streets, doorways and bicycles.

Artist Reception at the Patchogue Theatre Lobby Gallery for Jason Paradis’s, mixed media drawing exhibit is named “Face north” and will be up for viewing May 29 – July 24. A reception for the artist was be held on Thursday, June 11 at 6:30 pm. Continuing a tradition of combining local arts and dining, the reception will be catered by Patchogue’s own ‘Once and For All’.

The Patchogue Arts Council’s 2nd Annual Summer Party “What a Party for the Arts” honoring the Artists of the WPA, held Sunday, July 12 at the beautiful home of Carol and Charlie Butler was a great success. Over $2000 was raised for the Patchogue Arts Council.

At the Patchogue Arts Council’s last general meeting August 12 an update was given and it was revealed that the Patchogue Arts Biennial is a GO! The Patchogue Arts Biennial is Long Island’s largest Arts Exhibit of its kind and will be held Oct. 3-24 in 12,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall at Briarcliffe College. The goal of the event is to expand the communities view as to the trends, function and purposes of art in the 21st century. Sponsorship of the event has been overwhelming with Gold Sponsors like Briarcliffe College and St. Joseph’s College immediately stepping up to make this event happen.

Janell O’Rourke “Nature Spirits” Wednesday, August 19 at 6:30 an artist reception for Janell O’Rourke “Nature Spirits” was held at the Patchogue Theater Lobby. Ms. O’Rourke recent work is an intimate portrayal of animals, finding inspiration for her works through current events, book and films. The Lobby Gallery will feature her work until September 24. More of Ms. O’Rourke’s work can be seen at the up-coming Patchogue Arts Biennial, October 3rd – 24th, she will be one of the 44 artists exhibiting at 225 W. Main Street, Patchogue in Briarcliffe College’s 12,000 sq. ft. exhibition hall.

The Patchogue Arts Council presents “Paintings” by John Day, Artist Reception at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts Lobby Gallery.

ArtSpace Lofts Project Groundbreaking ceremony took place Friday, January 22. The Project will include a five story building with two commercial units on the ground floor and 45 units of affordable live/work housing for artists and their families. The project is scheduled for completion in December of 2010.

1st General Meeting for 2010, this is a Annual Meeting where membership will be asked to vote and accept new Nine Member Board of the Patchogue Arts Council.

Whew, amazing what a few folk can do!
