Dear PAC•MoCA Supporters,
This past year was tough but crucial for PAC. The challenges we had to overcome and the progress we made as an organization has given us the momentum to keep charging ahead. One year ago, we were facing shifts to virtual programming, new ways to connect with people safely, supporting those we serve in any way we knew how, and needing extra support to get through it all. We came out the other side having doubled the size of MoCA LI.ghts, presented more artists and organizations at Arts on Terry, created a new annual fundraiser Jam for the Museum, and broadened our reach to include populations far beyond our local community. Now, we’re gearing up to expand our team and take Patchogue Arts Council to new places as we embark on yet another ambitious project!
Please consider a donation to help support the needed staff and facilities that have been making it possible to grow in new and exciting ways. Without the help of our generous supporters it would not be possible to propel into all that 2022 is offering.
As our organization has grown, so has our ability to create more comprehensive and impactful programming. With education being an integral part of our mission, PAC has been exploring ways in which the arts can serve the teachers and students of Long Island. As a result, we are proud to announce that Patchogue Arts Council will be launching its first full-scale education program called Partners in Education, Arts, and Community Empowerment (PEACE) with the support of a $1.8 million grant from the United States Department of Education. The grant will fund this 5-year program that invites educators from across Long Island to participate in arts-based workshops and community partnerships designed to increase social, emotional, and educational empowerment for students in their classrooms – an area in which public schools are struggling to address according to NYS Department of Education. The material practiced in these workshops will be shared with teachers nationally through a specially made app and website, making for the largest reach and magnitude out of any other PAC programs. We are looking forward to having experts in the field help us bring this program to life as we stand to become a new asset to educators, their schools, and most importantly their students.
And that’s just the beginning. PAC will also be pursuing new horizons with art therapy as a part of SEPA Mujer’s new project called Thriving Latinas, which is supported by a $300,000 grant from the United States Department of Justice. PAC received a subgrant of $15,000 for our role in this 3 year program that will provide SEPA Mujer’s clients, who are victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking, with art therapy to help them articulate and visually translate their personal stories, paving the way for an emotionally healthy, and stable future. Partnering with SEPA Mujer in this capacity allows us the opportunity to use art in more deeply constructive and impactful ways.
And finally, we are also thrilled to announce that as part of the Town of Brookhaven’s redevelopment plan for the East Main Street corridor in East Patchogue, a property will be donated to PAC. With this generous donation of space, we will be able to develop a satellite arts center. This new second location will help house our permanent collection, satellite MoCA L.I. exhibition space and create a multi-use space for performance, events, and residencies, allowing us to enhance and diversify our offerings while increasing our presence across the area
Needless to say, this coming year is going to be a big one. We are taking our first step in a very new, very significant direction. Receiving our most substantial funding in the history of Patchogue Arts Council and investing it into our community through our most ambitious programming yet is no small undertaking. We cannot do this alone. You are the reason why PAC has become one of the most accomplished arts organizations on Long Island despite being one of the youngest. All of those who have supported us since our beginning in 2008 have helped us keep moving forward every year – growing more, doing more, and serving more. Now is truly when we need your support more than ever. We sincerely hope you join us for the ride and help us keep this momentum going!
We truly hope that you will consider helping PAC stay on track with a gift that is meaningful to you; we can tell you that any amount would be meaningful to us.
Artfully,
Beth Giacummo
