Call for Artists: “Essential Water” Photography Exhibit at he Art League of Long Island
February 6, 2017
For immediate release
Contact: Annette Bernhardt, Marketing Coordinator 631.462.5400 x223
The Art League of Long Island invites artists from Suffolk, Nassau, Brooklyn, and Queens to submit entries to the upcoming juried photography competition “Essential Water” showing in their Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery May 13 through June 4, 2017. Deadline to submit applications is April 5.
Whether you are professional artist or a budding photographer, the Art League challenges you to let your camera capture water in any of its many forms. Water is the essence of life. It covers 71% of the Earth’s surface and is vital for all known forms of life. We drink it, play in it, bathe in it, and wash our cars in it. Political disputes have centered around it. Storms have brought too much water and droughts have turned fields to dust. In some places, it’s treasured and incredibly difficult to get. In others, it’s incredibly easy to get and then squandered.
Exhibition Juror Dick Lopez is the founder of the Long Island Center of Photography and is a fine arts photographer, graphic designer, and business consultant. His work has been widely exhibited, recognized by such organizations as the American Institute of Graphic Arts, International Association of Business Communicators, Center of Photography at Woodstock and the Federal Design Council, and featured in Graphis, Print, and Art Direction. Visit his website at: http://www.dicklopez.com.

I wish to send a special thank you to Titus and everyone on the Board who have made this group possible. I’ve always wanted to join a photography group but have been reluctant to do so, feeling I did not have enough knowledge or confidence to The formation of this group back in October was so inviting, encouraging all levels of expertise, I had no excuse but to join. I am so glad I did! Each meeting I walk away with new tips and tricks to experiment with while shooting my pictures and developing my photos. This group is wonderful!
Thanks for caring to share,
Great group of people! Diverse and talented with multi levels of experience with which to grow and learn from. Although a new group, our group leader and committee members are committed to keeping a friendly, open and fully participating atmosphere. I look forward to meeting each month as well as focusing on each new assignment. Happy picture taking, fellow members!
